PREVENTION

The Campo Reservation Fire Protection District has a long comprehensive history in the field of fire prevention. Operating under the District Fire Chief, the professionally staffed fire Prevention Bureau address such issues as:

New Construction Code Compliance:

  • The Bureau interfaces with project architects, engineers and fire life safety professionals to ensure Uniform Building Code and Uniform Fire Code compliance during the design phase.
  • Plan check services
  • Regular site inspections during the construction phase to ensure and document code compliance.

 

 


Fire and Life Safety Inspections

  • Comprehensive annual inspection program of all business, commercial, educational and health occupancies within the District
  • Provide on-site education and solutions to proprietors regarding code violations
  • Maintain positive relationships with business owners in terms of fire and life safety issues


Public Education

  • Assist with the design of evacuation plans for critical occupancies
  • Provides no-cost fire extinguisher training on request
  • Hosts Fire Prevention Week in cooperation with Fire Department personnel

Vegetation Management

  • Ensure viability of structures within the wildland urban interface through the implementation of District sponsored hazardous fuels reduction projects
  • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of federally funded hazardous fuels reduction projects
  • Ensure code compliance with respect to defensible space requirements


Enforcement

  • Issue residential burn permits as outlined in District/Tribal policies
  • Investigate all reports of illegal open burning
  • Investigate all fires to determine cause and origin; cooperate with local agencies
